I Have Tightness In The Back, Are Chiropractic Adjustments Good?

I have Tightness in the Back, Are Chiropractic Adjustments Good?

Yes, Chiropractic Adjustments help relieve tightness in the back. It depends on the style of Chiropractic Adjustments, though. Some patients have such tight muscles in their spine that regular Chiropractic Adjustments do not help. Cox Decompression helps in this case, as there is no popping of the spine.

There can be many reasons for tightness in the back. The most common reason is  poor posture. Many people have not been aware of their posture most of their lives. This can be corrected easily at a young age, however, the aging process causes calcium build-up that does not allow the vertebrae to move freely. When the calcium builds up too much, bone spurs are formed. This process makes traditional Chiropractic adjustments to be done on some individuals as a result.

Not using correct sitting posture while working all day, may also contribute to tightness in the back. Make sure your spine always has support while sitting at a computer, while resting at home, or even while driving. When the muscles of the spine do not have support, they will become fatigued, and even start to become weak over time. This will cause more tightness in the back, that will be more difficult to relieve if they are not supported regularly.

Other causes of tightness in the back can be a result of more serious conditions like anklyosing spondylitis. This is a chronic disease that is more common in males than females, however, it can occur in both sexes. Anklyosing Spondylitis causes inflammation between the spinal bones, and the bones between the spine and the pelvis, or sacro-illiac joints. The pain generally is worse at night, and improves with exercise, or throughout the day. This is a serious condition that is diagnosed by X-Ray or MRI of the spine, and blood tests. Other serious conditions may be present, so be sure and get an exam to rule them out before being adjusted.

If you’ve complained of tightness in the back for more than a month, without relief, please come in for an exam to rule out any disease process that might be causing it.
